Glentoran Academy has played a massive role in the development of young football players in Northern Ireland. In recent years we have seen more of our players selected by the Northern Ireland International set-up (Club NI) than any other club in the country!
In addition to this, many of our players regularly trial with professional clubs in England & Scotland, and to that end, Glentoran have built superb relations with cross-channel clubs which comes with many benefits to our young players.
Given the enormous success of our youth set-up from its inception in 2008, we are now massively expanding our academy network in order to cater for both boys and girls from as young as 3 years of age in our mini soccer programme, right up to Under 18 level including children of all ability levels from Elite to Developmental.
Our disabilty football prgramme for boys and girls is also very important to us and plans are on-going to develop this section of our academy rapidly. We already have over 50 players involved!
In addition we have also established the countries first dedicated Foreign Language Academy managed by A License coach Artur Kopyt who is a Polish National. Over 35 Eastern European children enjoy weekly training sessions and games.
Glentoran FC as a locally recognised brand believe our academy has a very important role to play, not just in providing players to our 1st team squad and beyond, but with the on-going issues of social interaction, cross-community efforts, ethnic inclusion, and general fun & fitness for all children of all abilities.
With this in mind we have put in place various measures that will allow us to cater for up to 4 teams at every age group as well as working in the community visiting schools, youth groups and running holiday soccer camps.
Our objective is to provide the best possible platform for children of all abilities to enjoy and thrive in, and gain invaluable life experiences!
